Historic Site: Arnold's Way
2010
video
A group of short videos shot at historic markers throughout New England, exploring the imprint of colonial history on our landscape and cities. Simultaneously present and absent, relevant and irrelevant, humorous and grave, this history is intimate, everywhere, and yet abstract, a narrative construction imposed on the land.
This site commemorates the location on the Kennebec River in Maine where Benedict Arnold's 1775 military expedition diverted from the river and traveled to Quebec by land.
